Without farmers, our very existence would be in jeopardy.
Risk assessment ZA South Africa – Yet criminals have long targeted them. It is time we take proactive steps to push back. Simply telling a criminal to leave your property won’t work; they follow their own rule book, which is vastly different from that of law-abiding citizens.
We recently conducted an independent security risk assessment for a farm in Kuruman, identifying several risks that typical assessments often miss.

Farming equipment has evolved significantly in terms of technology, efficiency, and feasibility. However, the latest machinery alone doesn’t make a farmer successful. Success comes from knowing what needs to be done, when to do it, and how to do it, and understanding the many elements that must work together to achieve the desired results.
The same principles apply in the security world.
Security technology has advanced rapidly, with AI-driven systems becoming more common. But having top-tier security technology doesn’t necessarily mean you have effective security.
An independently conducted Security Risk Assessment will precisely outline what actions need to be taken and what structures must be in place to ensure robust security.
Do you have a Security Risk Assessment done by an independent professional?
You can install cameras, alarm systems, electric fences, and all the other high-tech equipment, but if these measures don’t actually reduce security risks, they are useless. Moreover, if these systems aren’t properly managed and monitored, they are bound to fail.
In the end, security comes down to willpower
How much determination do you have to stop crime? It’s also about understanding crime, assessing your security risks, and finding ways to mitigate those risks. Unfortunately, we’ve been conditioned to associate security hardware with actual security. These components are just part of the solution. How we use, program, manage, and control them is what truly brings everything together.
Owning the best, most advanced tractor is great, but if you don’t know how to operate it or when to plow your fields, it’s worthless. The same applies to security hardware. Without knowing how and when to use it, where the information should go, and how to act on that information, your security system is just a recording device or an alarm that occasionally goes off—basically useless.
Security is about managing and controlling information to enable informed decisions when lives are at risk.
We all know how brutally violent farm attacks have become, and it’s heartbreaking to think that some could have been prevented with the right security measures. No one can predict when or where criminals will strike next, but being prepared is far better than facing these violent offenders without backup or an escape plan.
Although we can’t control a criminal’s actions, we can control our own. Unfortunately, farmers—and people in general—can be resistant to advice. But now is the time to start listening, especially when the advice comes from security professionals.
Consider this:
As a farmer, you’re an expert in your field. If I were to start farming today, I wouldn’t succeed without solid advice from professionals. In my field, Security Risk Assessment, I am a professional and an expert, meaning I have some valuable insights on proactive crime prevention.
There’s no shame in asking for help, especially when it’s about keeping people safe. When you’re ill, you see a doctor, a professional who diagnoses the issue after careful examination. Without a thorough checkup, the doctor can’t prescribe the correct treatment. But if you go to a pharmacy and simply describe your symptoms, they might provide something that only treats the symptoms temporarily, without addressing the root cause.
A Security Risk Assessment works the same way.
If you want to either enhance your current security or establish it from scratch, you should consult a professional Security Risk Assessor to identify your risks. After identifying the risks, we can recommend and implement the most suitable solutions to eliminate opportunities for crime.
If you go straight to a security company and tell them what you think you need, they’ll provide solutions based on that, often without fully understanding the risks.
If the real risks aren’t addressed, your efforts are in vain.
At Alwinco, our goal is to help you understand your security risks and protect your family. Knowing when you’re in danger, what to do, and when to do it is key to survival, and we’re here to guide you through that process.
We understand that times are tough and that money is tight, but not everything is about cost. In fact, 70% of a good security profile involves understanding and knowledge rather than buying new hardware. That’s what a Security Risk Assessment brings to the table.
Please take the time to review our Company Profile and the attached documents. They offer valuable insight into proactively combating the crime pandemic.
