Introduction
The Alwinco Methodology is built on a clear and structured approach to independent physical security risk assessments that focuses on identifying real vulnerabilities before they are exploited. It combines practical field experience with detailed analysis to give clients a realistic understanding of their security environment. The process not only highlights risk but also creates awareness and improves decision-making through clear and accessible explanations. Each assessment engages directly with the site and its operational context, ensuring findings are accurate, relevant, and aligned with real conditions. By removing commercial bias and focusing solely on risk, the methodology supports honest reporting and meaningful improvement. Over time, this approach helps clients develop a stronger understanding of security, leading to more informed decisions and more resilient environments.
The Alwinco Methodology

At Alwinco, the role of the consultant is to conduct independent physical security risk assessments that identify real opportunities for crime before criminals do. Our objective is not only to identify risk but also to educate clients about security, the realities of security risk, and the role that risk plays in modern crime.
By providing clear, practical, and relevant information, clients begin to think differently about security and assess the reality of their environment with greater accuracy. This process identifies weaknesses in security design, structure, management, and human behaviour, while also providing practical recommendations that reduce risk in measurable ways. The process is never one-sided. Both the client and Alwinco learn from one another, creating a more profound understanding of how security functions within a real environment.
Our work spans residential estates, corporate environments, farms, VIP environments, mines, educational institutions, whistle-blower protection, and assassination risk assessments. Every security risk assessment conducted by Alwinco includes site visits, structured interviews, document reviews, and scenario-based analysis.
We take a key part of this process by understanding the client and the environment properly, listening carefully, gathering background information, and absorbing all relevant details before making any conclusions or recommendations.
Over the past 20 years, we have learned that this approach builds trust because clients understand that we are not there to sell products, equipment, or services.
We are there to identify and explain every security risk.
Clients trust us because we begin by presenting the security risks and helping them understand the impact and consequences of those risks.

Only once the risks are fully understood do we provide risk-specific recommendations and possible solutions. This ensures that clients understand the reasoning behind every recommendation and why corrective action may be necessary. Many environments are already compromised, and this methodology ensures that we make improvements that are practical, realistic, and meaningful.
At Alwinco, we do not follow an approach where a consultant arrives on site, completes a checklist, asks a few basic questions, and then presents a quotation or price list. This often frustrates clients because they do not fully understand the reasons behind the recommendations. Our role extends beyond explaining security. We teach clients how to think about security. Once clients understand risk and the assessment process itself, they begin to think in the same structured manner.
This creates a shift in thinking.
The discussion shifts from simply asking what is wrong with the current security setup to understanding what a specific environment requires, which systems are necessary, and which specifications effectively reduce risk.
Alwinco’s Outstanding performance in security consulting is reflected in the ability to create measurable improvement.
By exposing weaknesses, such as operational gaps, and management blind spots, the assessment process shifts security away from assumptions and toward a clear understanding of reality. Recommendations are practical, prioritised, and aligned with the client’s specific environment and operational requirements.
One of Alwinco’s strongest distinguishing factors is independence. We do not install equipment, manage guarding contracts, or benefit financially from implementation. This removes commercial bias and ensures that every recommendation is based solely on identified security risk. Clients therefore receive objective findings that are often difficult to hear but necessary if meaningful improvement is to take place.
What distinguishes Alwinco is our leadership, demonstrated through a strong on-site presence, ethical conduct, and the ability to clearly explain security risk to boards, directors, trustees, and management structures. We build our leadership on experience, knowledge, and accountability. We have assessed many buildings and environments, observed how systems integrate, and understand how various elements combine to create effective security.
There are occasions where clients may resist hearing that something within their environment is not functioning correctly.
Our role is not to tell clients what they want to hear but to present the facts based on the identified risks. Many clients say others in the industry avoid speaking honestly about security risk. Thus, leaving them uncertain about the true condition of their environment while still paying for services that were never properly explained.
At Alwinco, accountability remains central to our methodology. I, Andre Mundell, personally handle all on-site duties and take full responsibility for my work. The process often involves criticism, challenges, and resistance, yet the commitment remains the same because one crime is one too many. This commitment strengthens credibility and reflects genuine leadership within the field of independent security risk assessment.
Understanding security risk is the starting point of effective crime prevention. Risk identification forms the foundation of every security profile. Not all findings require major corrective action. However, when significant changes are necessary, clients understand the reasons behind them because we clearly explain the risks and consequences.
The consultant’s role extends beyond security alone and influences broader business operations.

Effective security reduces operational disruption, strengthens investor confidence, supports insurance compliance, and improves trust between businesses, clients, residents, and stakeholders. Security therefore forms part of governance and strategic planning rather than serving as a reactive expense.
At the end of the day, Alwinco builds long-term client relationships through transparency, reliability, continued engagement, and measurable results. Clients do not simply receive a report. They gain understanding, practical insight, and the ability to make informed decisions about their environment.
The key value clients gain from our services is perspective. They begin to understand security differently and learn to speak the same security language. An independent security risk consultant also provides ongoing support at no additional cost. The consultant remains available after the assessment process to clarify complex questions and discuss security and risk.
This combination of engagement, education, independence, and continued accessibility ensures that every assessment provides long-term value that extends far beyond the report itself.
